Using free script fonts (or free cursive fonts) in your design can help to add a special and versatile aesthetic. From signature-style fonts to ornate and formal handwriting, or even a casual scrawl, there are endless possibilities.

Whatever look you're going for, there's definitely a script font for you. But with so many options out there, it can be hard to know where to start. A script font created with a brushstroke, we love the movement and fluidity of this lettering. Totally confident, with a carefree and slightly hurried energy, it's surprisingly versatile when you see it in different contexts. Though it doesn't scream elegance when set against a beach-y background (more surfer-chic), when laid over black and white with a classic image, it manages to pull it off.

Who doesn't love a free brush script font? Created by Nasir Udin, Arkipelago combines a wet inky feel with a traditional vibe to evoke the impression of clear but realistically imperfect handwriting. Arkipelago contains extra alternate letters, and is free for both personal and commercial use.

An extension and redesign of the Arsenale White typeface, Bimbo was created in 2018 by Francesco Canovaro for Zetafonts. This monoline display font is ideal for minimal lettering and logos, fake handwritten notes, and metatextual jokes.

Designed by Fernando Haro, La Sonnambula is a handwritten and extended font that's been designed with calligraphic texts and elegant titles in mind.
